PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (AP) --
Authorities an 8-year-old Port Charlotte boy prevented a more serious crash after his mother had an apparent seizure while driving.
The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office reports that the woman was
driving on a state highway Thursday afternoon when she lost
control. While the car was veering over a median into the oncoming
lane, the boy unbuckled his seat belt, climb to the front of the
car and steered into a guard rail.
A truck hit the stopped car a few moments later, but deputies
say the boy's action prevented a head-on collision.
Rescuers transported two people to a nearby hospital.
