LAKE COMO, Fla. (AP) -- A Putnam County mother and her two sons
were killed when an Amtrak passenger train crashed into their car.
The Florida Highway Patrol reports that 34-year-old Melissa
Johnson and her sons, 9-year-old Brandon and 6-year-old Blake, were
pronounced dead at the scene Monday afternoon.
FHP says the woman's car was crossing the tracks in Lake Como
when the 10-car, two engine-train hit it. It wasn't known how fast
the train was going. The private crossing was marked by stop signs,
not crossing arms.
The train was carrying 214 passengers north toward Jacksonville.
The train was delayed for several hours, but no injuries were
