Man charged with fatal toddler beating
LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) --
A central Florida man has been charged with beating a toddler to death.
Authorities say the 2-year-old boy had 28 injuries to his head,
face, and upper back.
Lakeland Police say Marcus Brown repeatedly hit his stepson with
a belt in the upper torso and head on two separate occasions
Sunday.
Authorities got a report of an unresponsive child on Monday. The
child was not breathing and was later pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy deemed the death a homicide.
Police say Brown faces charges of first-degree murder and
aggravated child abuse. He was being held without bail.
It was not immediately known if he had attorney.
