FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) -- An inmate reportedly hanged himself
at the Broward County jail.
The sheriff's office reports that the 21-year-old man was found
Monday afternoon by a deputy on normal patrol. The man appeared to
have hanged himself with a bedsheet.
The deputy took the man down, called for help, performed CPR and
used a defibrillator. Paramedics took the inmate to a nearby
hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The inmate was not on suicide watch. He was in jail awaiting
trial.
Officials were not immediately identifying the man or his
charges.
