Witnesses say robbers have the same basic description.
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- A Tampa man has been sentenced to three years
in prison for a 2009 fatal shooting.
A Hillsborough County judged approved a plea deal Tuesday for
30-year-old Alexis Rivera-Nunez. He pleaded guilty to second-degree
murder.
Prosecutors say Rivera-Nunez fatally shot Yoandy Cancio in July
2009 after threatening to kill him over stolen drugs three weeks
earlier. Cancio's attorney says he was prepared to argue
self-defense but Rivera-Nunez decided to take the plea deal.
Prosecutors say their case was hampered because their primary
witness, Julio De La Torre, was killed in May. Authorities have
charged 23-year-old Isaiah Ridley with first degree murder in De La
Torre's death.
