Grants Given To Aid Homeless Veterans

ATLANTA (AP) -- Organizations that help homeless veterans in
Georgia are slated to receive $430,000 in grants from the federal government.

The grants are part of more than $24 million in job training
grants announced Tuesday by the U.S. Department of Labor.

The grants are expected to provide training for about 14,000 veterans nationwide to help them succeed in civilian careers.

Goodwill Industries of the Coastal Empire in Savannah is to
receive a new grant of $192,107 and Atlanta's Samaritan House is to get a third year grant of $238,595.

U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda Solis said the grants will help the
veterans find meaningful employment so they won't face homelessness
again.
