HOMERVILLE, Ga. (AP) -- Authorities have charged a Florida
beekeeper with stealing bee equipment from south Georgia
Authorities arrested Ruben Josey in Florida's Putnam County on
accusations he stole 40 bee boxes, 25 cases of jarred honey and
other bee equipment from Clinch County beekeepers.
Clinch County authorities have charged 45-year-old Josey with
two felony counts of theft by taking. He'd already been arrested
for a number of similar thefts in several Florida counties last
Allen Morgan, a Clinch County investigator, says authorities
found many of the hives off dirt roads. Investigators say Josey
would try to cover up the beekeepers' brands.
A number listed for Josey was disconnected Wednesday.
