Sarasota Helicopter Crash

SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) _ Two people have died and one remains hospitalized after their helicopter crashed into the Gulf of Mexico off the Sarasota coast.

Fire rescue officials say the helicopter went down just off a barrier island in about two miles off a southwest Florida barrier island. The three people on board were doing a video shoot for Powerboat magazine.

Sarasota County sheriff's Lieutenant Chuck Lesaltato says it's not clear what caused the helicopter to crash as it flew near the boat it was videotaping. One witness said the helicopter came close the water and flipped. Debris from the helicopter hit the boat.

Two men on the helicopter died after arriving on shore. A third man remains hospitalized. His condition has not been released.

The operator and a model on the boat were not hurt. The model umped in and kept the men afloat.

The crash is under investigation.
