A Milwaukee, Wisconsin woman is charged with killing a woman and stealing her unborn baby. Prosecutors say her plot to steal a child to cover up her own lies about being pregnant, left two people dead.
This criminal complaint was just filed, charging Annette Morales Rodriguez with two counts of homicide. Prosecutors say she killed Maritza Ramirez Cruz, with the intention of stealing the full term baby boy, but they say she killed them both in her efforts, and elaborately tried to cover it up.
The grisly criminal complaint charges 33-year-old Annette Morales Rodriguez with two counts of first degree intentional homicide, one of them an unborn child. The suspect told police she'd lied to her boyfriend that she was pregnant and began to panic because she wasn't, and decided to stalk a pregnant woman.
Police say she lured 23-year-old Maritza Ramirez-Cruz with an offer of a free ride, and took her to the suspect's home south on 7th street last Thursday and attacked her with a baseball bat, strangled her and cut her unborn child from her womb.
Both Ramirez-Cruz and the baby died. Morales Rodriguez, seen here in court tried to tell investigators the baby was hers, but an autopsy showed otherwise, and police say Morales Rodriguez admitted killing Ramirez Cruz. Officers found her body hidden in the basement.
