Washington, D.C. (AP) - The Justice Department has sent a letter to Alabama police agencies warning them not discriminate against Latinos as they enforce the state's tough new immigration law.

Assistant Attorney General Thomas Perez, who heads DOJ's civil rights division, sent the letter last week to Alabama's 156 police agencies that receive federal funding. Perez warned that agencies risk losing funding if they violate federal policies barring discrimination. He also said DOJ officials are monitoring the law's implementation to ensure there are no civil rights violations.

The Obama administration has sued Alabama to block the law that allows local police to detain people suspected of being in the country illegally. Parts of the controversial law have been blocked by a federal judge, but police can still arrest suspected illegal immigrants.

The strong central federal government that Lincoln wanted in 1861 and got in 1865 at the point of a bayonet is out of control. The people of this country are being surpressed by the federal governement while our country is being invaded by people of other countries. The states are being forced into submission by the ever powerful central government. The surpression of the people and submission of state governments is increasing day by day. Illegal aliens go home.

Oh no, not discrimination against illegals? Okay don't discriminate the Latinos. Pull them all over and check 100% percent of them. Problem solved. Now everyone will feel special.

For those Police Agenices who do not accept Federal Dollars, I guess the Feds threats mean nothing. LOL Alabama should threaten to stop sending any money to the Feds, keep the federal taxes on fuels and other items the feds tax, and send that money to those police agencies until the Feds start enforcing immigration laws!!! Local governments should not accept federal tax dollas anymway. Learn to live within your own means, like the rest of us. Federal tax dollars are the carrots the Feds have always used to force local government politicians to do the Feds bidding. We are selling our souls for the feds to give us what is ours to start with. Wake up people!!

The citizens and corporations should withhold paying federal taxes and use the money to support there own state, and enforce the law as it is written. Then the rest of the States should follow.

Hmmm. Not send money to the Federal government?? That was done in 1860..That's why the North started the Civil War by blockading all of our ports..The North could NOT survive WITHOUT the tariffs produced by the Southern states.
