Earthquake in Russia

NEW YORK (AP) -- A magnitude-6.2 earthquake rattled the east coast of Russia near the Kamchatka Peninsula, the U.S. Geological Survey reported Sunday. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries, and no tsunami alert was issued.

The quake struck at 9:43 a.m. at the epicenter (4:43 Eastern time, 2143 GMT Sunday), Which was some 4,140 miles (6,660 kilometers) east of Moscow, the USGS said, closer to Japan than the Russian capital.

The center of the quake was about 5.8 miles (9.3 kilometers) deep, the agency reported.
