[UPDATE] WASHINGTON (AP) - September 26, 2011-

Federal authorities say they are returning $55 million to people ripped off by an Internet-based Ponzi scam.

The Justice Department and Secret Service announced Monday that
they are returning the funds to 8,400 victims who invested on sites
run by AdSurf Daily Inc.

The company's founder, Thomas "Andy" Bowdoin Jr., of Quincy,
Fla., has been indicted in connection with the investigation but
has pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial. He is accused of
drawing in investors by promising returns of 125-150 percent on
their money if they would view websites for a couple of minutes
each day.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Washington obtained money to repay
victims through forfeiture of numerous bank accounts, real estate,
luxury vehicles and watercraft. Information for victims is
available by calling 1-800-644-1535.

A former Perry Mayor lands himself in hot water with the feds after scamming people out of millions of dollars.

A federal grand jury has indicted 76-year-old Thomas "Andy" Bowdoin on charges of fraud stemming from an internet-based scheme that generated more than 100-million dollars.

Bowdoin served on the Perry City Council from 1974 until 1983, serving one term as mayor in 1981.

Authorities say Bowdoin scammed thousands of people across the U.S. and other countries by posing as an online advertising company.

Bowdoin was arrested on December 1st and faces more than 100 years in prison and fines up to 6-million dollars.

I wonder if the Ponzi scammer received a Bush-era tax break, (for his high income level). Would the taxpayers then be in line for our funds to be paid back to us from his tax reduction on his Ponzi profits?

Steve, the Government forcing itself into where it doesn't belong is the funding of abortions. The person who suffers from the government is the child that is sucked out through a vacuum tube and strained through steel mesh or has a needle jammed in their skull and their brain sucked out.. (late term abortion) and you are a progressive, I thought you championed for those who were not able to champion themselves. Shame.

How is this typical Perry politics? He was mayor 30 years ago. If I remember correctly, he wasn't voted for by the residents, the council members rotate taking a term as mayor. I'm not defending politicians in Perry, or any where else, but this is hardly connected to Perry politics.

juswonderin - Let me "play your game"... how typical of a Republican to immediately say someone is a liberal because they offer a different opinion than you. I personally AM a Progressive. Knowing what leads to Federal charges like this, I FULLY believe he is guilty, based on what we have seen from the media. But the courts will decide that, and that decision will be based on the EVIDENCE presented to the judge and jury. Its how our country works. Plus NOBODY AGREES with abortion. I DO AGREE with the fact that whether or not a woman I do not know wants to have a child that she is pregnant with is NONE OF MY F'EN BUSINESS. She has the right to make that decision, and will have to live with that decision for the rest of her life. YOU should MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS. If you think the GOVERNMENT is TOO INVOLVED in your life, then why try to FORCE the government into the BODY of a PERSON THAT YOU DO NOT KNOW!

perry res.: I don't think this has anything to do with politics or Perry other than he was once voted by "PERRY" residents to serve mayor.

I love how all you liberals think everyone is innocent. You are the same ones who agree with abortion, even though the child is innocent.
