Some 750 people turned out to eat barbeque with Nathan Deal at his first annual "Grilling with the Governor."
The event took place in Deal's hometown of Gainesville at the Lanier Olympic Venue from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
The Jesters provided music.
Tickets were $15 apiece with children under 6 free.
As governor, Sonny Perdue initiated an annual fish fry in Perry, near his middle Georgia home.
The event was such a success that the state Republican Party took it over this year.
Perdue and other top Georgia Republicans attended and held a straw poll of GOP presidential candidates.
