JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Police say a man was struck by a sports utility vehicle and then dragged about a block by another vehicle in Jacksonville.
The SUV driver told police he didn't see the pedestrian while driving south on Riverside Avenue early Friday.
The Florida Times-Union reports the pedestrian was knocked into the northbound lane, where a woman hit him. She told police she thought she'd hit a box and pulled over at the first opportunity she had. That's when she realized she had hit a person.
Sgt. Donald Washington says it wasn't clear where the pedestrian came from and that it was dark in the area at the time.
He says no charges are expected. The name of the man was not released.
