(CBS/AP) WASHINGTON - October 21, 2011 -

After nearly a decade of fighting, President Obama on Friday announced the end of the Iraq war, keeping his campaign promise from 2008.

"Today I can say that our troops in Iraq will definitely be home for the holidays," Mr. Obama said in the White House briefing room, "the long war in Iraq will come to an end by the end of this year."

Ahead of his announcement, a White House aide said "the partnership between the U.S. and Iraq will be a normal one between two sovereign nations."

This moron will say anything and do anything to get re-elected. If it's bad news then it's Bush's fault, if it's good news then he was the mastermind behind it. I can't believe he's trying to take credit for Libya. This clown has got to go come the next election.

Before all of you who bow at the throne of the jug eared one, geta 'thrill up your leg', because of this, Obama is not responsible for bringing troops home from Iraq: President Bush in 2008, signed the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA), which removes all troops from Iraq by Dec. 31, 2011.

Question, how can a person refer to themselves as a "conservative" and support Obama? He definitely is no "conservative", he a "progressive, socialist, liberal! What you really are is a "progressive democrat" which is no different than a "progressive republican", the ideology is the same! George W Bush is/was a "progressive republican", he called himself a "conservative" to get elected. Obama was elected because of his "hope & change" rhetoric. The problem is, his definition of "hope & change" was a deception, it's not in America's best interest. There's no problem though, if he is re-elected, all of us will go down together, see you at the bottom!

Sorry oh jug eared one. It will not work. You are history in Nov. 2012 and one thing you have forgotten (or never knew) is that after every war, no matter the length of that war, there is a recession. Bye!!!

The POTUS is referred to as the "ANNOINTED ONE". He has been scripted throughout his life by something/someone to carry out an AGENDA. His efficiency and success is AMAZING! He is now handling another item on THE AGENDA, removing troop from Iraq! The first was get him elected POTUS, then came The Health Care Bill, The Stimulous which went to the Unions & Bankrupt Companies, Increasing our National debt, Regulation of banks and businesses to stall jobs that would increase the economy, etc. The AGENDA is Socialist! The question is, who ANNOINTED him and who wrote the AGENDA?

Yes, the troops do need to come home, that's a good thing. But never forget for a minute, if leaving them there had been on his AGENDA, it wouldn't have happened! Everything he does is to satisfy his AGENDA ASSIGNMENT! Why isn't the public asking this question? Who ANNOINTED him and who wrote the AGENDA?

@ conservative democrat Pres. Bush signed a declaration agreement with Iraq before he left office that American troops would be leaving by a deadline of Dec. 2011. Yes, we are all very happy that Pres. Obama is going to honor that agreement. You like fiction!

"At least he did what a republican president could'nt". ?? The decision was based on REPUBLICAN President George W. Bush's agreement with Iraq to withdraw the troops by the end of 2011. Naturally Obama is going to take political credit, that's what he does, it's part of his ANNOINTING to create chaos between the Democrats and Republicans to advance the AGENDA. You seem to have fallen into that trap! The PROGRESSIVES, made up of both Democrats and Republicans who share identical Socialist viewpoints, are the ones you should criticize. The AGENDA is all about changing America from a Capitalist Nation to a Socialist Nation where the people have no voice in or control of their lives. America of the people by the people will no longer exist. Who benefits when the AGENDA is completed, THE GOVERNMENT!

You do realize this was not obama's 'decision'. It was by agreement signed by President Bush and the Iraq Gov. in 2008 to have all troops removed by 12/31/2011. (Status of Forces Act/ SOFA)

This is AWESOME NEWS, alot better that that "Mission Accomplished" sign back in 2003. President Obama just keep completing one accomplishment after another. In spite of all the nay sayers, he continues to succeed. He said he would bring the Troops home and end this war that was started on a bunch of lies from Bush. If he is allowed, he could knock a dent in to this debt problem. This Microwave generation wants things done instantly thats been building for decades.

Yes, Bush started it and he negotiated a date for it to end, December 2011. It's ending as planned. The only thing Obama has done is HONOR Bush's committment! IT's on the AGENDA! I'm no Obama fan but Bush's "Mission Accomplished" sign back in 2003 WAS a BIG mistake, it damaged his integrity and gave the Progressive Socialists fodder to further their cause which was to give us a weaker POTUS than Jimmy Carter....whoever imagined it could get worse than that? Obama is worse than Jimmy Carter!

Obama is swapping 60,000 US Army soldiers with 60,000 Blackwater security soldiers. Keep your promise and bring all our boys home.
