ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Gov. Rick Scott has frozen $235 million in
contracts for a planned commuter train in central Florida.

A spokeswoman for the governor says the four contracts for SunRail were put on hold late Friday "pending additional information for review." She gave no indication how long such a hold might last.

Scott's office is reviewing all state contracts of $1 million or more.

Noreanne Downs, who runs the state Department of Transportation
in central Florida, predicted the contracts would be approved as early as next week. She said "everything is on track" for the $1.2 billion project to proceed as planned.

The rail line is slated to link downtown Orlando with Seminole, Volusia and Osceola counties. Backers of the project hope to begin
construction by spring.

GOVERNMENT CANNOT CREATE JOBS.....real jobs have to be productive. If Uncle Sam hires you to dig a ditch, and hires your neighbor to fill in that ditch the next day, the government will claim it created two jobs. In reality, they have stolen money from the private sector that would have been spent efficiently and created real growth, real jobs, and healthy long term growth. The more money I pay in taxes for the government to hire ditch diggers, the less money I can spend locally. KILL THE FREAKING USELESS TRAIN THAT WE ARE BORROWING MONEY FROM THE CHINESE TO FINANCE AND BUYING THE PARTS FROM JAPAN AND GERMANY AND THAT NO ONE WILL RIDE.....AMTRAK IS LOSING MONEY AND COSTING BILLIONS EVERY YEAR AND THIS WILL TOO.

Go Rick Scott!!!! Does anybody really believe people in Central Florida are going to park their cars to use this thing? Look no further than the one in downtown Jacksonville- complete bust and total waste of money.

maybe the backers of the project that want it should pay for it out of their own pockets. how is this going to help florida as a whole?? Answer, it wont. Just help people get around the orlando area better. Won't do squat for the rest of florida.

There must be a problem or a lack of getting many of his business associates to pony up the states part of the cost of building this. The result at this rate will be the feds will send the money to the next one on the 'list' and so goes any hope of any highspeed passenger rail service in the state for at least the next decade.

This is good. Billions for speedtrains was a distaction by OBama, so we wouldn't notice how he had ruined this country. Obama is not a legal President.

Cancel the bloody thing. We do not need another "shovel ready" project that will never pay for itself. All this project does is pour money we do not have down a bottomless pit. These politicians live in Never never land.
