Stocks Close Higher After Debt Deal in Greece

New York, NY (AP) - The stock market finally got a deal from Greece, but it didn't produce much of a rally.

The Dow Jones industrial average is finishing six points higher at 12,890. The Standard & Poor's 500 is closing up two at 1,352. The Nasdaq composite ends the day up 11 at 2,927.

Greece says it has agreed to cut spending to satisfy some of its lenders. That's a key condition for Greece to avoid a default next month that could spook world financial markets.

Earlier Thursday, the Dow rose to within 75 points of 13,000, a milestone it hasn't reached since 2008. The S&P's gain took it within about a point of doubling its level on March 9, 2009, the low for stocks during the Great Recession.

I want everyone to know there is a liberal keynesian posting with my name who posts incorrect facts.

Stupid post? Mine was right and the other Gerry was wrong again

Gerry just admitted that unemployment numbers do not show how many people are unemployed and he knew it all along. Why are they called unemployment numbers then if they do not count all unemployed....oh the government is lying again to make itself look better so people like Gerald will keep baaaaaaaaing while led to the slaughter

Nothing advertises your intellectual bankruptcy and dishonesty like posting with another's handle. Who is the most credible neo-Confederate poster? Well, there doesn't seem to be one. The neo-Confederates are all too bankrupt and too dishonest to post with a unique handle, and suffer the consequences. I am laughing at them.

I was wrong again. The US government in 1994 under Clinton changed how unemployment is calculated. The numbers used now are lower than they used to be to make things look better. I am sorry about my wrong post and I thank the anonymous posters with more credible facts again.

Brilliant. I knew they had been changed in the past. So you're saying the numbers in the last 17 years are comparable? Dynamite quibbling.

Why is the US national debt of no concern when neocons and American Israel-firsters talk about invading Iran?

I finally agree with you. Democrats spend it on green energy and handouts and Republicans spend it on bombs and bullets

Obama flip flopping on women's choice again today....too bad he is a community organizer instead of a leader.

unemployment stats only show how many people are receiving benefits......the work force has shrank greatly under obama but people are no longer on unemployment so he takes credit for creating jobs.

I see where my president is caving to the Republican philosophy and will be offering the big greedy corporations tax breaks on Monday in his new budget. How can he do this when in his campaign speeches he blasted Republicans, but now he says this will create jobs like the Republicans have always said? He gives great speeches but his actions never match his words.

If you have a credible argument to make, why do you post with my handle? If you were posting the truth, you wouldn't need to duplicate mine. Others would come to recognize your unique handle as a source of good information. I am laughing at you.

Why are using my handle? Two people having a common first name....wow, really? and I see you agreed with the rest of my post because what I posted was correct.

You're making me laugh. You have no credibility of your own and think you can't get any, either. Or you would.

I comment on it so others will know it is going on. Nobody else has another posting with his handle. You only do it because I am so effective. You're a rightwinger and not much different than college kids who shout down a speaker they disagree with. I am laughing at you.
