The State Department is warning Americans to be on alert today after U.S. officials uncovered an alleged Iranian plot to assassinate Saudi Arabia's ambassador to the U.S.
The State Department issued the alert late last night.
Two men, including a member of Iran's special foreign actions
unit, were charged with conspiring to kill
the Saudi diplomat.
Authorities say Manssor Arbabsiar, an Iranian-born U.S. citizen, and another man planned to use explosives to kill the Saudi ambassador at a busy restaurant in Washington D.C.
Arbabsiar allegedly even hired a hit man he thought worked for a Mexican drug cartel.. but was actually a DEA informant.
