DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A conservative student group on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin is being threatened with protests and expulsion if it goes forward with a playing a game it calls “Catch an Illegal Immigrant.”

According to the Young Conservatives of Texas UT Chapter’s Facebook page, on Wednesday members of the group will wear signs on their clothes that say “illegal immigrant.” Any student who “captures” them and takes them to the group’s recruitment table will get a $25 gift card.

The group says the purpose it to spark debate about immigration, but for many it’s sparked more disappointment and disgust.

Ramiro Luna of Dallas is organizing a trip to Austin Wednesday to protest the game.

Luna says it personal. He’s a Dream Act student. The Dream Act allows certain undocumented students to legally attend college.

“I think this is an issue that shouldn’t be mocked by something along this line,” he said. “This is our lives that they are speaking about- a very hard issue to deal with.”

While on the Young Conservatives of Texas Facebook page organizers wrote its intentions are to start a campus-wide discussion, word from university officials is those who participate could face expulsion.

Reaction from alumni has been harsh on the group who says it’s not afraid to be politically incorrect.

“As a former UT student I am appalled,” said Connie Paredes with the Texas Organizing Project. “I cannot comprehend how a student of UT would do some so racist and discriminatory.”
