ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) -- Federal prosecutors are asking a magistrate to keep an American man jailed pending an expected extradition request by the Czech Republic after the killings of four relatives there.
A detention hearing is scheduled Wednesday afternoon in federal court in the Washington suburb of Alexandria for Kevin Dahlgren. He is accused by Czech authorities of fatally stabbing his aunt, uncle and two cousins in the city of Brno earlier this month.
At an initial appearance last week, Dahlgren said he expected his parents in California would pay for a lawyer for him.
Czech authorities say Dahlgren was born in 1992. Court records show Dahlgren had been living with the family in Brno since April 30.
Prosecutors say Dahlgren should remain jailed pending an expected extradition request by the Czech Republic.
