U.S. Urges Calm in Yemen Amid Reports of Attack

Washington, D.C (AP) - The White House is calling for a peaceful
transfer of power in Yemen, amid reports that the country's
president was wounded in a rocket attack.

The attack came from opposition tribesman who are determined to
force him from power. It marked a major escalation of nearly two
weeks of fighting with government forces.

The White House fears that the chaos in Yemen will weaken that
country's campaign against al-Qaida's branch there.

Press Secretary Jay Carney issued a statement saying, "Violence
cannot resolve the issues that confront Yemen."

The Pentagon says there's no move now to bring U.S. troops in
Yemen out of the country. A spokesman says there are still some
U.S. service members there, and that they are taking "necessary
