A Tallahassee man stabbed to death this week was a two sport star at John Paul the Second High School, his former coach said.

Andres Kilpatrick was stabbed in the parking lot at Labor Finders in Frenchtown Monday. He was 25 years old.

"He was a great kid," Kilpatrick's former football coach said in a phone interview Wednesday.

Kilpatrick played both basketball and football at the school. In 2006 he played quarterback and led the Panthers to their first ever playoff appearance.

His former football coach Matt Olesnevich says he was stunned when teammates told him about Kilpatrick's death.

"There are so many emotions I go through.... you know he was absolutely awesome at John Paul the Second. He was definitely loved. He was definitely loved," Olesnevich said. "He was always the type of person who was like give me the ball, whether it was football or basketball, he was the guy who wanted the ball."

Anthony Jean has been arrested and charged with Kilpatrick's murder. Witnesses say they thought the two men were playing around when Jean pulled out a knife.

33 year old Anthony Jean smiled for the camera when he was booked into jail and charged with the murder of Andres Kilpatrick.

It happened Monday at Labor Finders on West Brevard Street in Frenchtown.

Witnesses say Jean and Kilpatrick appeared to be "slap boxing" and "playing around" when Jean pulled out a knife and said "I don't fight fair. I cut people."

Kilpatrick was stabbed in the stomach and died at the hospital soon afterward.

"I'm sorry, give his family my condolences because I know they're going to miss him,"said nearby resident Annette Corbett, "Everybody down here liked him and stuff and my husband said they got along real good because my husband used to catch a ride with him to work."

We stopped by Labor Finders this morning but someone inside answered through the mail slot that they had no comment on what happened.
