UPDATED 9.17.2010

A Tallahassee man busted for child pornography remains behind bars after a judge set bond at $100,000.

34 year old John Crouse, a computer consultant and former member of LCSO's Mounted Posse, was arrested earlier this week on ten counts of possession of child porn.

Yet arrest papers filed in the case indicate there were approximately 100,000 pictures of children on his computer, in various stages of undress.

The arrest papers say approximately 5,000 of those pictures are pornographic and illegal. It also says there are two lengthy pornographic videos on the computer as well.

The FDLE agent working the case says most of the children are between the ages of seven and 14 and the pictures show them engaged in vaginal, anal and oral sex with adults.

The judge set Crouse's bond at $100,000, ordered him to wear a GPS monitor and have no unsupervised contact with children under the age of 18.

John Crouse's mug shot is not being released because he is a law enforcement officer.

A spokesman with the Leon County Sheriff's Office confirms Crouse was a reserve deputy with its mounted posse until his resignation August 6th. The mounted posse patrols at football games and parades as well as helps to search for missing persons, SGT James McQuaig said.

In his on line profile on LinkedIn, Crouse claims to have full law enforcement standards, worked as an LCSO reserve deputy since March 2008, and worked as a police officer in the Village of Fayette, Ohio from June 2002 until September 2005.

His on line profile also indicates he has more than 14 years in the information technology industry, currently serving as a consultant with WiSys LLC, and formerly as a systems programmer with Florida's Department of Revenue.

Crouse's Facebook page indicates he has two young children.

-------------------------------------------------------------
Agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Computer Crime Center today (9-15) arrested John Crouse, 34, of Tallahassee and charged him with 10 counts of sexual performance by a child.

Crouse became a suspect during an undercover investigation by FDLE’s Computer Crime Center. During the investigation, an FDLE agent observed an individual using an Internet chat room to share images that showed children in sexual acts. Agents were able to trace back the user to Crouse.

In July, FDLE agents executed a search warrant at Crouse’s home, located at 3234 Allison Marie Court, and located hundreds of images of child pornography.

Crouse was booked into the Leon County Jail. Additional charges are pending a complete forensic examination of all computers located in Crouse’s home

Based on the evidence presented so far it would appear that this guy needs some serious mental health evaluation and/or counseling!

TIR? have you finished counting yet?

So if all of this is true... why only 10 counts of a STATE crime. Generally under the age of 13 and internet related it is a FEDERAL Crime. 827.071 is a State charge, and why no "distribution" charges or any of the other myriad of charges beyond the scope of 827.071 section 5. Maybe those are to be added later, but I would think if computers were seized in July, and he was just arrested, and WCTV can get all these details... again why no additional, FEDERAL level charges? If there were 5000 files even under 827.071(5) there should be 5000 charges.. each file is a seperate charge. Just don't get why there is only 10 state charges if there was all these files...

TIR, just for kicks and giggles, go on the Leon Co sex offenders/predators pages and scroll thru all the mug shots looking back at you, then get back with us on what you see. And BTW, have you read that book I recommended to you yet? Seems everytime I mention it to you, you mysteriously disappear until that story goes away. OK, I'll tell you again: It's called "From rage to responsibility" by Jessie Lee Peterson. Perhaps this will help get some of the hate out of your heart and head. Perhaps not, really don't care either way about you personally. You're the one that has to live with your sad self. Unfortunatly, it's attitudes like yours that keep us where we are, (and that I care about). What that means for you TIR, is you will always be unhappy. So sad, when you can have control of your life but let your emotions rule you instead. As for anyone on here defending this freak of nature, you are known by the company you keep, if you get my drift.

@Anon and @Misa: Not jealous...I was actually a little bitter at first when he was promoted but he did have more work experience than me, I did wish him well in all of his endeavors but never would've guess this would be one of them. I never wish ill will on others. @Anon2: No I don't work for the sheriff's office. Not gonna say where I work but obviously some have their own ideas as to why he was given the promotion versus what really happened.

@Asim - Jealous much? @anon2 - Asim didn't work for the Sheriff's office. Read the story again, but pay attention this time. :|

"certainly not a felon to this degree." Any guy with a pornography collection probably unwittingly has a few underage girls in there. It isn't like guy had a bunch of porn of 8 and 9 year olds.. 10 counts means a grand total of ten files. They served the warrant in July and only found ten files, look at the charges and statutes people.. this is someone who probably had pictures of 16 and 17 year olds, who looked an awful lot like 19 or 20 year olds, and the guy probably had no idea. I'd be willing to bet some of those commenting have a few files of that nature themselves. If he was on a chat room soliciting why is that charge not included? So far only charge is posession... if police found hundreds of files.. why only 10 charges? Sends a lot like some sensationalism just because the guy was a LEO. Also, anon2.. Reserve Deputy.. not a paid full timer with LCSO.. Larry had nothing to do with his promotions at other places. FYI
