UPDATE 10-14-2011

A jury finds Christopher Eddy, 25, guilty of six felonies including attempted murder. Eddy was arrested for shooting FWC Officer Vann Streety in 2009, and then spent a couple of days evading authorities in 2009.

Around 4:30 p.m. Friday, a jury returned a guilty verdict for attempted first-degree felony murder, attempted first-degree premeditated murder, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer with great bodily harm and resisting an officer with violence, aggravated assault with a firearm and armed trespassing in a conveyance.

Eddy was pulled over by Streety in July 2009. He testified that the officer threatened to beat him, so he retrieved his handgun and shot at Streety 10 times. He said he stopped firing because he was afraid he would kill the officer, who was struck six times and critically injured.

Eddy could face up to life in prison when sentenced.

Authorities continue to search for 23 year old Christopher Eddy. He's suspected of shooting FWC officer Vann Streety.

Late Thursday night, deputies arrested the suspect's girlfriend, 37 year old Tammie Temple. Investigators say she was with Eddy when he shot Officer Streety Wednesday night.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is looking for any leads, and they're not ruling out a national search for the shooter.
Streety's recovering from surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.

----------------------------------------------

Officer Vann Streety was raised in Tallahassee. He went to Leon High School and worked as an EMT and ambulance dispatcher for ten years at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

Wednesday night, Trent Robinson got the call that his best friend of 27 years had been shot. Streety had been shot several times while making a routine traffic top in Cocoa, Florida. The suspect had fled.

"It's your greatest fear," says Robinson. "As a law enforcement officer or having a friend who's an officer."

Robinson has been in constant contact with Streety's family and is using Facebook to update their friends.

"He knows a lot of people from this area," says Sharon Lippman, who used to work with Streety when he worked as in ambulance services at TMH.

Streety, a father of three children under the age of five, grew up in Tallahassee. He worked as an EMT and ambulance dispatcher at TMH.

"Oh, Vann was a fun guy. Very fun to work with," says Lippman.

But his former coworkers say he was also serious... about safety.

"Very glad he had his vest on. He was very adamant about the police that would come in here. That was the number one thing for Vann was his vest," says Cindy Chronister, a former co-worker at TMH. "I'm glad he took his own advice."

"I am thankful that he's going to be okay," says Lippman. "My thoughts go out to him and his family and you know I'm sure they know if they need anything, they got family up here."

"If I know Vann, he'll do it 150 percent," says Robinson. "And he'll come back. He'll come back strong."

Is it possible to put this hoodrat in a box and send him on his way without feeding him and waiting 33 years?

Vann is an amazing Father, friend, & officer! I thank God that Vann has made such a remarkable recovery so quickly. I was lucky enough to work with him for years and to call him a friend to this day. I am just one of many who love and admire him! I'm glad to hear that justice prevailed! Love ya, Vann:)
