Robert Champion's family has filed suit against FAMU.
Champion was beaten to death in a hazing ritual aboard a band bus back in November.
His parents filed a wrongful death suit against FAMU and the charter bus company today, saying both knew about the prevalance of hazing in the band. They didn't specify the damages they are seeking.
Said Champion family attorney, Christopher Chestnut:
"We plan to hold everyone accountable. We can't speak to damages. We just want to know about liability. Who are the main culprits here? How did this happen? and how do we prevent it from happening again? Damages is a question for a jury. I'm sure in due time they'll make that decision.
Champion's parents applauded the resignation of President Ammons, saying all along that the university needed to clean house.
13 people are facing criminal charges in Champion's death.
