-- Valdosta, Ga. -- February 24, 2012 --
Nicholas Hill, 24 years old, was sentenced to 10 years on an aggravated assault charge for shooting a 26 year old woman and 9 year old boy in 2010.
The 26 year old woman was holding her 11-month old child at the time of the shooting. The shooting occurred in March of 2010 on the 1800 block of Claudia Circle. Hill was involved in a gang related dispute. His victims were innocent bystanders.
The prosecutor of the case, Brad Shealy, said "Mr. Hill along with several other people drove their cars over to the location, went down by the house. Words were passed and then Mr. Hill pulled a gun out and started shooting. The people were out in front of the house when he started shooting and he missed the person he was shooting at and hit two innocent people."
The female victim had been visiting from New Jersey.
Shealy went on to say that "any case when somebody is shot is bad, but when they're not even involved or even know who's doing the shooting and they get shot it makes it a little worse."
Nicholas Hill also received five years probation for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
