Quitman, Georgia -- Brooks County Deputies responded to a stabbing on Sunday at approximately 6:00 p.m. at the Little River Bridge at the Brooks and Cook County line. Upon arrival, the victim had been taken to the emergency room in Adel by friends.
“The victim had been at the river with friends when the offender and the victim’s ex-girlfriend arrived. The victim asked his ex-girlfriend if he could get his things that were still at her house,” Sheriff Mike Dewey stated. “The offender got into the face of the victim and told him he was not getting anything. When the victim asked that the offender get out of his face, the offender took a full beer bottle and hit the victim in the head. He then took the broken bottle and stabbed the victim in the shoulder,” Sheriff Dewey further stated. The victim, Alton Paul Oliff, was treated and released.
Warrants have been issued for the suspect – 44 year old Johnny Matthew Cox of Honey Bear Road in Moultrie, Georgia. Cox is 6’ tall and weighs approximately 427 lbs.
