Live Oak, Florida (Press Release) --
Investigators with the Live Oak Police Department have charged a local man with tampering with evidence during a continuing investigation into the death of Marvin Louis O’Hara, age 35 of Live Oak, Fl. Detectives learned that there was a handgun disposed of in a retention pond near the residence where the crime occurred. In June, a retention pond owned by FDOT was drained and a 9MM Hi Point semiautomatic pistol was found. The firearm was sent to the FDLE lab in Tallahassee, Fl. to be compared with evidence recovered from the scene and it was determined that this gun matched evidence recovered from the crime scene.
Detectives arrested John Charles Ware, dob/04-04-1954, the morning of September 3 and charged him with three felonies involving the disposal of the gun. Ware is a convicted felon and has been charged with the following crimes; 1) Tampering with Evidence, 2) Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, 3) Use of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. Ware also resides in the same rooming house as the victim, 813 Hillman Avenue.
Ware has been booked into the Suwannee County Jail and is awaiting a first appearance.
