Jacksonville, Florida (AP) --
Jacksonville police say a man who died while in custody was possibly on drugs.
Chief John Hartley says police were called early Monday morning (9/6)
to an altercation at a home where four adults and one small child
lived. The unidentified man became violent with the responding
officers and he was handcuffed. Hartley says the man kicked the
officers and his legs had to be restrained.
Police then noticed he was in medical distress and performed CPR
on him until fire rescue arrived. The suspect was taken to the
hospital where he died.
Hartley says a roommate told police the man was behaving
strangely during the day and possibly was on drugs.
