Valdosta, GA - Two people are behind bars, accused of robbing a Family Dollar store at gunpoint.

Valdosta Police say the armed robbery happened at the Family Dollar on East Central Avenue Sunday evening. Employees told police an African American Male entered the store, displayed what appeared to be a handgun wrapped in a t-shirt, and stole money from the cash register.

"The offender demamded money from the cash register. The clerk opened the cash drawer, and he actually went behind the counter and took the money himself, and then left on foot", says Lt. Aaron Kirk.

Police have identified that man as 29-year old Homerville resident, Cecil Williams. They say Williams had a getaway car where 24-year old, Alicia Sault, was waiting for him. Williams dropped the weapon outside the store, which turned out to be a water gun.

Police say the pair got away, but were quickly spotted by an off-duty police officer, who ran the car's plates and found that it had been reported stolen.

"An off-duty officer followed him until back up could arrive. A Lanier County Deputy caught up to him just inside Clinch County. They made a traffic stop, where a witness was brought and positively identified the suspect", says Lt. Kirk.

Cecil Williams is charged with Armed Robbery, and Alicia Sault has been charged with Armed Robbery-Party to the Crime.

Police say the case is still under investigation and additional charges may be filed. No one was hurt in the incident.
