UPDATED 3.15.2012 by Julie Montanaro

Students say they were surprised to learn a fellow student was robbed at gunpoint in the Leach Center parking lot while the popular recreation center was still open.

The hold up happened about 11pm Wednesday night. The Leach Center remains open until midnight.

"The fact that it was still pretty early, it was 11 o'clock, most of the incidents occur maybe 2 -3 o'clock in the morning, so campus is kind of busy around that time still, so it's really surprising to hear about that," said FSU student Amanda Merced.

FSU police are hoping someone at the Leach Center saw something that can help solve this crime.

A concealed weapon permit should be a requirement to go to FSU. That way only people with guns come here. Come on thugs, make my day.

The restriction of concealed carry on university campuses must be repealed. By banning self protection we have allowed criminals easier access to their craft. We as a society must be given the opportunity to fight back. This woman may have chosen not to carry, but it should be HER choice.

Another reason law abiding citizens with the proper credentials should be able to lawfully carry for persons self defense. We should not have to live in fear of being robbed at gunpoint while obtaining further education.... We all know gun free zones only apply to law abiding citizens, criminals on the other hand use this to their advantage.

4-door white car with a skinny black male beside it. It had an FSU tag and body damage. I called TPD and told them about it. I know. I know. Lots of white 4-dr white cars with BMs with short hair. But that's all the public was given. See what I mean. We are given the bare essentials. We could help more if given more facts. I told TPD where the body damage was and the tag and that it was an FSU tag. That's the best I could do with what we were given.

You can't go around shooting punk thugs. How can you reform them if they are full of holes and in a hole.

Who wants to reform them. They made a choice when they went on the other side of the law.
