JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- A Jacksonville man is accused of beating another man to death with a baseball bat during an argument over how barbeque was being sliced at a party.
Police arrested 35-year-old Alvin Kenneth "Chico" Welch Jr. on Wednesday. They say he fatally beat 31-year-old Joshua Andrew Heinz when the argument broke out Saturday night after a night of watching football games.
The Florida Times-Union (http://bit.ly/1ab6ZsR ) reports Welch was getting a take-home plate when he and Heinz had words over how the meat was being sliced.
Assistant Chief Chris Butler says the argument escalated and Heinz was hit with the bat. He later died from his injuries.
Butler says the two men were acquaintances. The party was at Heinz's house.
Welch is being held without bail at the Jacksonville jail.
