Marianna, Florida --
On 11-15-2010 at 8:44 PM, deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to 5557 Hill Lane Marianna, Florida in reference to a reported burglary in progress.
Upon the first deputy arriving, he observed a suspect flee from the residence on foot towards a wooded area. The deputy pursued the suspect and was able to overtake him. The suspect was taken into custody and placed in a patrol vehicle for transport to the county jail.
While transporting the suspect to the county jail, he became combative and began kicking the back window of the patrol car. As the deputy was coming to a stop to gain control of the suspect, he was able to kick the window out and exit the patrol car. The deputy was able to quickly apprehend the suspect and further restrain him. He was then transported to the county jail without further incident.
During the investigation it was determined the suspect had an accomplice. K-9 units from A.C.I. and J.C.I. responded and attempted to track the other suspect. They were able to track the suspect back south on Chester Road until the inclimate weather made it impossible to continue tracking.
This incident is currently under further investigation. If anyone has information concerning this incident, please contact the sheriff’s office. The defendant is charged with Burglary, Criminal Mischief, Resisting without Violence, and Escape.
