GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- A fugitive is back in jail after deputies found him hiding in a Gainesville apartment's air conditioning system.
The incident happened Tuesday when Alachua County Sheriff's deputies were trying to serve an arrest warrant to 23-year-old Cornelius Banks.
The Gainesville Sun (http://bit.ly/1aSeuJs ) reports it took several minutes for 20-year-old Katronna Smith to answer the door when deputies knocked about 8 a.m. Tuesday. She told them she hadn't seen Banks in two months.
As investigators searched the home, they noticed that a large toy car had been placed in front of the air handler vent. The vent was latched from the outside. They found Banks inside.
Banks remains in the Alachua County Jail without bail resisting arrest and probation violation charges. Smith was also charged with resisting arrest.
