Tallahassee Fla. -- Less than 24 hours after a robbery and assault, three men are in jail, and WCTV's cameras were the only ones rolling moments after the suspects were charged and put in handcuffs.
18-year-old UF student, Alex Burnett, 18-year-old TCC student, Randolf Dominikow, and 18-year-old FSU student, Chandler Folsom, were all arrested, charged, and escorted to the Leon County Jail this evening following a robbery and assault investigation.
"This all started about 2:50 this morning," Explained Florida State Police Department spokesman, Jim Russel. "Our patrol guys got a call about a student that was beaten up on campus."
According to FSU-PD the victim was taking a short cut near the Deviney Hall dorm on FSU's campus when he was approached by three individuals who told him they were UF students, and that they needed a place to stay. Then, they attacked him. Once he got up they demanded he hand over his wallet.
"We got some good tips and the investigators followed up on those which led them to three suspects in this case and their was additional follow up leading to three arrests," Russell says. "So we have made arrests on this robbery that was reported just earlier this morning,"
"It's scary again because I live right over there you know," one FSU student living near the area where the man was attacked said. "It could happen to anyone."
"On one hand we are happy we got the offenders," said Russell. "It's really very sad that this could happen to college students."
FSU-PD says the men have been charged with robbery and battery, and they are also investigating their possible connections to a recent string of robberies.
