The Florida State University Police Department is currently investigating three fire incidents that it is classifying as arsons. Each of the incidents, if taken individually, represent minor incidents, however, with the current number being three and of similar circumstance, the FSUPD considers these on-going, though not campus-wide at this time. In the interests of informing affected parties (the College of Music and the College of Business) the following information is provided to assist staff and students with taking security precautions and to be on the lookout for any suspicious persons or activity.
Incident 1 April 1st, 2013 small burn marks on wall and burnt paper found near Room 435D in the Kuersteiner Music Building.
Incident 2 April 19th, 2013 burnt paper and small burn marks on carpet near Room 435E on the Kuersteiner Music Building.
Incident 3 May 6th , 2013 burned papers affixed to cork/message board on west side of Rovetta Business Building.
It is unknown at this time if the incidents are linked, if they are the work of vandals, or are continuing pattern of a single person or group intent on causing fire damage. The FSUPD is investigating these cases in order to identify the person or persons responsible. If you work or study in these areas, please be on the lookout for any new damage, suspicious persons in the area, or any suspicious circumstances.
