Gretna, FL - A shooting sends a Gretna man to jail and his girlfriend to the hospital.
Neighbors told Eyewitness News that the tragedy was bound to happen.
Gretna residents say 258 Earnest O'Barkley Avenue could be a party scene. "They were always over there partying day and night." Says area resident Viola Baker.
They say it could be a fight scene. "Both of the them kept ticking one another off." Says, area resident Willie Long.
But, when the house turned into a crime scene last Sunday, neighbors say they weren't surprised.
Baker says, "Always going at it over there. It was fighting all over there. The police were always there. So, it was bound to happen. If not with her and him, someone else."
Gretna Police say 52-year-old Tom Faison shot his girlfriend on March 31st. Officers say the woman--who is in her 30's--was shot in her right side, and in her head.
Baker says, "I'm devastated about what happened. It was right in my front door, so I'm very devastated about it."
Officers say they found more than ten guns inside of the home, and say that all of them belong to Faison.
Neighbors say the girlfriend lived in the home with Faison.
Long says, "She's a warrior, too. She don't be backing down. You get two people like that, sooner or later they're going to break ice. I seen it coming. Sorry to hear that it happened. But, I wasn't surprised."
Police say the woman was still breathing when they arrived after the shooting, and that she was the one who managed to call 9-1-1.
"Praise be to God that she's still alive." Says, Baker.
Faison faces charges of attempted murder, and two other felony charges.
We're told his girlfriend is in stable condition.
