Gunman Robs Tallahassee Texaco

Tallahassee, Florida -- December 23, 2010 --

A man held up a Tallahassee convenience store clerk at gunpoint overnight.

An LCSO spokesman says the man robbed the Texaco on the corner of Capital Circle SW and Highway 20 just minutes after midnight.

No one was hurt.

The suspect is a white man, who stands about 6'4", and was last seen wearing a blue Hilfiger jacket with a hood.

K-9's were able to track the man's scent east on Jackson Bluff Road, but lost his trail.

Detectives are now reviewing surveillance video to see if there are any pictures of the robber in action.

Most dogs lose scent for good reason. It's not the dogs fault. Why can't we humans find a robber? If we can see pics as soon as the story runs then yea we can find him but not until then. Plus I'm curious why people choose the most broke places to steal from. Either way, you're going to serve time for crimes you commit, you might as well go big and rob a bank or something!

to "in the know" I happen to be a dog trainer. and have seen lcso dogs bite their own handlers as well as other officers, in non provoked situations. I also train dogs for tracking and know what they are capable of. usually it is handler error when a dog losses scent. that is because the handler assumes that the dog is on a bad scent and forces the dog on another route. unlike you my experience is real and not from sitting on my rear watching tv.

To schwartz clown: Those dogs ARE NOT overly aggressive. If you say that then clearly you have not been around those dogs or very many LEO dogs. Florida also has the worst conditions for canine tracking. Sorry that CSI and NCIS have 100% tracking records, but that's not how it works in real life!

"jusssayin" I agree lcso doesn't seem to have very good dogs, they lose the scent on a regular basis. they also seem overly agressive, which would all lead to the conclusion of either poorly trained dogs or lack of training for the handlers. and from what I heard I would say both.
