On Friday, May 17, 2013 Sheriff Randy Courson received a complaint of public indecency. When deputies arrived at the residence of 2397 Hwy 129 N, belonging to a Jose Sanchez, to investigate, Sanchez answered the door and the deputies noticed an odor of marijuana.
The deputies then secured Sanchez and the residence and Investigators applied for a search warrant for the residence and property to search the premises.
After obtaining the Search warrant for the residence and property, Deputies discovered a Hydroponics indoor marijuana grow in an outbuilding behind Sanchez’s residence.
Deputies recovered a quantity of finished Marijuana product and 38 mature Marijuana plants all weighing a total of approximately 83 pounds. The value of the marijuana plants are worth nearly half a million dollars street value.
Deputies recovered two firearms from the residence along with tools used in the Manufacture of Marijuana. Sanchez was booked into the Lowndes County jail on charges of Trafficking marijuana, Manufacturing Marijuana, Possession of Tools used in the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
