Jackson County Sheriff's Office
On 10-11-2013, Jackson County Sheriff's Deputies responded to Arrowhead Camp Ground Storage Units located at 4280 Hwy 90 in reference to a Burglary in progress. Upon arrival, contact was made with two subjects, Andrew Curtis Neel and his father, Richard Andrew Neel .
The subjects were observed standing at an open storage unit. Upon further investigation, it was determined that a storage unit had been burglarized.
During the course of the investigation, Deputies interviewed Andrew Curtis Neel who subsequently admitted to burglarizing the storage unit and removing approximately 70 pounds of brass ammunition shell casings.
The brass casings were subsequently sold as scrap at a local recycling center for an undisclosed amount of money. Investigating Officers obtained consent to search the Neels' residence which was located a short distance away on the same property.
Upon searching the premises, items consistent with the manufacture of Methamphetemine were located inside. At that time, Investigators from the Jackson County Drug Task Force were summoned and safely dismantled the active Methamphetemine Lab which was also located inside.
Narcotics paraphernalia was also located in the residence including hypodermic needles, pipes and digital scales. Several stolen items were recovered in the residence and storage unit belonging to Richard Andrew Neel.
The stolen items were valued at approximately $1000.00 . The owner of the items was contacted and positively identified the items as the items missing from his unit. In addition, Deputies located firearms and ammunition within the residence.
Upon further investigation, it was determined that Andrew Neel is a convicted felon and is currently on community supervision. As a result, Andrew Curtis Neel was placed under arrest and charged with
1) Burglary of a Structure
2) Grand Theft
3) Felon in possession of a Firearm
4) Manufacture of Methamphetemine
5) Possession of Parphernalia
6) Violation of State Probation (Community Control).
Richard Andrew Neel was placed under arrest and charged with
1) Manufacture of Methamphetemine,
2) Possession of Paraphernalia
3) Grand Theft.
Andrew Curtis Neel and Richard Andrew Neel were transported to JCCF to await First Appearance.
