The man who escaped jail last week is back behind bars.

Officials with the Madison County Sheriff's Office say they've captured 21-year-old Frederick Antwon McCray.

McCray was a trustee in the jail who assisted with the meal service. A meal truck from the Madison Correctional Facility was dropping off food, when he took off through a gate around 6:00 a.m. Friday.

1000 dollars.

That's the magic number for information that can help catch 21-year-old Frederick Antwon Mccray who fled from the Madison County jail Friday.

"It was just a split second thing, the exterior gate was not quite closed," said Madison County Sheriff Ben Stewart.

At the jail, McCray was assigned inside trustee status to assist with meal service.

Stewart said McCray waited for the meal truck to leave and the he hauled it out of the gate.

"By coincidence, the gate with the truck came in the back gate and also the back door was open at the same time and he just took the opportunity to run," Stewart said.

"It bothers me that someone has escaped, I wish they hadn't and I'm going to be on the lookout," said local resident, Bill Simmons.

Because of this incident, the Sheriff has tightened security at the jail.

He says this is the first time this has happened and for now on, inmates, even trustees, will be properly closed in before any gates open.

McCray was initially arrested May 8. He had multiple charges including theft, burglary and loitering.

Stewart said Mccray didn't have a violent past. Some people who know him said the same thing.

"I ain't scared, I ain't worried because I know he ain't going to hurt nobody. But, I just hope he turns himself in and be safe before he gets hurt," said Sandra Gee, who knows McCray.

Even though McCray doesn't have a violent past, authorites still warn people to be careful.

"So if you out there and you hear me, turn yourself back in," Gee added.
