News Release: Madison County Sheriff's Office
Madison County Sheriff Ben Stewart reports that on Thursday night December 19, 2013 at 11:32 pm deputies of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the Madison County Memorial Hospital Emergency Room to meet with an adult male victim of an Aggravated Battery.
Upon arrival deputies made contact with the victim who was being treated for a serious laceration to his left wrist. During the investigation deputies learned that the victim was involved in a domestic altercation with a female (later identified as Scarlett Sue Cobb of Madison). The victim reported that he and Cobb were arguing when she produced a knife and cut him on his wrist. The victim attempted to stop the bleeding but was unsuccessful and drove himself to the Emergency Room to receive treatment.
Deputies collected evidence from the Emergency Room and then went to 2679 SW CR 360 where the Aggravated Battery was reported to have occurred. Upon arrival deputies contacted Cobb who gave a similar version of events, however, denied cutting the victim. During further investigation, deputies discovered a knife that matched the given description of the one used to commit the Aggravated Battery laying in the yard near a cell phone that belonged to Cobb. Deputies processed the crime scene and collected all evidence. Cobb was placed under arrest without incident.
