Police are still on a the hunt for a man that has been on the run since around 9:30 a.m. Monday morning. A police pursuit began at the usually quiet Capital City Country Club, ended with a suspect still on the loose and a neighborhood on alert until he's behind bars.
Neely Macavoy has lived near the country club for more than two years. She loves the area, but says it's not immune to crime. Just this past February her home was burglarized. Since then she's been on high alert.
She says, "My neighbors and I we all try to look out for each other."
She, along with several residents, were not surprised to learn about a police pursuit that started in their own backyard, and ended with police at the intersection of Gadsden and Van Buren Streets.
Surrounding streets were blocked off for hours. Officers were seen armed and patrolled the area. It all started with a call about a stolen blue Hyundai at the country club.
Officer Dave Northway with the Tallahassee Police Department says, "The was a suspect inside the car, he gave the suspect verbal commands, the suspect ignored him and fled the area, he struck the police car as he was leaving."
When officers finally stopped him, the suspect jumped out of the car, hit a police officer, dropped a gun and ran. The news of a man on the run quickly spread throughout the community, now residents are being extra cautious because the manhunt is still on.
Neely tells us, "I never open my doors to anybody, I just have to be a lot more cautious.
Police do have the weapon that the suspect dropped. As far as the suspect, they have not released his name, but describe him as a white man with a shaved head, about mid 30s and with many tattoos.

A suspected car thief - spotted with a gun - is still on the loose.
Tallahassee Police say he started out in a stolen car, and continued to run from police after he was cornered on the west side of town.
Law Enforcement searched for the suspect for hours, pulling out all the stops to find him.
Despite all the efforts, the suspect remains at large.
Rob Diaz de Villegas, a nearby resident, says, "There was an officer with some sort of automatic weapon. He just told me to get back inside the house."
Rob Diaz de Villegas had to watch everything going down from his windows after law enforcement made him go inside his house...
Authorities were on a manhunt.
"Guys were going up and down the street. They ended up going across the street. Some U.S. Marshals with machine guns went in the woods across the street."
Tallahassee Police say they got a call that this blue Hyndai was stolen.
Officers say when they spotted the car near the Capital City Country Club, the suspect was still inside...
Officers told the man to get out, but police say the man drove off, hitting one of their patrol cars as he sped away.
Police chased the car to Gadsden and Van Buren Streets where they were able to do the pit maneuver to stop the car.
Officer Dave Northway, Tallahassee Police, says, "The police officers approach the car, they push the back end of the car. That makes the wheels spin out, and as you can see, takes them out of commission. Unfortunately, in this case, the bad guy was able to get away."
Police say the suspect hopped out of the car and ran down the railroad tracks.
Rob adds, "He might have escaped under the bridge across Monroe. He could be anywhere, really."
Police say when the man got out of the car, he fought with one of the officers before running away.
That officer had a minor bruise to his face.
Police say the suspect is a white man, mid to late 30s, shaved head, no shirt wearing blue jeans and many tattoos.
