The Midway Police Department and City of Midway is encouraging citizens to participate in the National Night Out on Tuesday, August 6, 2013.
Mayor Holton, states, "National Night Out is a crime and drug prevention event aimed at strengthening communities by encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger relationships with our police department, MPD.I want to personally invite all citizens to come out and meet your police officers along with your elected councilmembers to fight back against crime."
Chief Jerome Turner points out that this event is also designed to build support and participation in local anti-crime programs, as well as heighten crime prevention awareness and send the message that our neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
National Night Out is sponsored nationally by the National Association of Town Watch and locally co-sponsored by the Midway Police Department. In its 30th anniversary this year, nearly 40 million people are expected to participate across the country.
The National Night Out event will take place Tuesday, August 6, 2013 from 6PM-10PM at the Eugene Lamb Park in Midway, FL. There will be free food, drinks, and a host of vendors on hand to inform citizens about security systems and other crime prevention mechanisms. So turn on your outside lights, lock your doors and come out and celebrate with neighbors and police.
