Press Release: Quincy Police Department
On June 22, 2013 at approximately 10 p.m. Quincy Police responded to an armed robbery call at the Kangaroo Convenience Store located at 1134 W. Jefferson Street. Upon arrival contact was made with victim and police learned the following:
The victim was a passenger in a vehicle which had been driven to the store by a friend of the victim. The victim’s friend had exited the car to go inside the store and the victim stayed inside the vehicle. While seated in the vehicle the victim was approached by two men whom she had just seen minutes earlier walk to the store together. One of the men approached the victim, who had the car window rolled down. The man pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the victim, and while leaning in the window began to grab and demand the victim’s purse. While this happened the victim’s friend was exiting the store and began to yell when she saw what was occurring. The armed suspect was able to obtain the victim’s purse and he and his accomplice then ran away together. The victim was not physically injured.
After several weeks of conducting interviews and examining evidence QPD CID Investigators were able to obtain arrest warrants on July 10, 2013 for two men for robbery and grand theft. Police have arrested the following:
Nicholas McMann Gilyard, B/M, DOB: 2-28-90 (23), of 88 Pall Barrier Rd. Quincy, FL. Charges: Robbery and Grand Theft. Note: Gilyard was armed with gun.
William Doupont Moore, III, B/M, DOB: 9-21-92 (20), of 615 Williams Street, Quincy, FL. Charges: Robbery and Grand Theft.
Both men were being held at the Gadsden County Jail.
