Tallahassee FL- Shotguns and speed trailers don't go hand in hand, and the proof is sitting at the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office.

Hundreds of people traveling along Rehwinkel Road in Crawfordville are usually reminded of the speed limit when they pass one of these speed trailers which flash your speed as you pass by. Someone this weekend decided they didn't care to know what speed they were going.

As Wakulla County Sheriff's Office Public Spokesperson, Keith Blackmar explained, "We got a call from a concerned citizen who was concerned about the fact that it looked like it was malfunctioning." That is when deputies arrived and noticed three gun shots on the sign.

"You know it is obviously a stunt that they decided to make a statement on our equipment, so hopefully we can make a statement at some point in time as well," said Blackmar.

The people who decided to take a shotgun to the speed trailer now face a felony charge of criminal mischief. The Sheriff is also offering a $500 dollar reward for anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who pulled the trigger.

Damage to the trailer is estimated around 12-hundred dollars. Anyone with information should call the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office at 850-745-7100.
