Stabbing Reported At Valdosta State University

Valdosta. GA - It happened around 10pm Thursday night on the Valdosta State campus, and the school went on lockdown. An unnamed student was found stabbed in the neck at VSU. He was taken to South Georgia medical center and is expected to survive. VSU police, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and the Valdosta Police Department are all working on the case.

Theresa Boyd, VSU Director of Communications: "We went and sent out our campus alert system which goes out via text messages, phone calls, and emails to those individuals on campus; faculty, staff, and students who have signed into the program. That went out to about thirteen thousand last night, different people."

At last check, no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call 229-242-2606.

Valdosta, GA - The Valdosta State University Police Department has confirmed that a stabbing occurred on campus Thursday evening.

VSU sent a text alert at 10:15pm warning students to stay away from the pedestrian mall area.

An update was sent out shortly before midnight stating that campus was no longer on lockdown, and that residence halls were open.

Eyewitness News will have updates as they become available.


Valdosta State University Alert

Oct. 10: There has been a stabbing in VSU pedestrian mall area. VSU Police on the scene. Anyone with information should call 229-259-5555 with information.

VSU residence halls, library and other buildings are on lockdown until further notice.

Update: Oct. 10 (11:58 p.m.) Campus is no longer on lockdown, residence halls are open.
