Tallahassee - The man who helped his neighbor after the neighbor was shot by a robber talks to WCTV about what happened.

Tuesday night just before 10:30 in the 700 block of Coble Drive, Tallahassee police say a robber shot 30 year old Jason West in both legs.

Somehow West managed to still get to a neighbors home for help. The neighbor, who did not want to be identified says he was watching a movie when he heard a knock at the door.

He says, "I opened the screen door and asked Mr. West was he OK, what happened. He indicated he had been shot, I returned to the house to grab towels to assist him and at that time he had collapsed."

The neighbor says he talked to West, who is being treated at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, and he says he is in good condition.

At last check, the suspect is still on the loose.

A Tallahassee man ran to his neighbors for help after someone burst into his home and shot him.

It happened on Coble Drive just before 10:30 Tuesday night.

You can still see blood on the front doorstep and a hole in the door where someone may have tried to kick it in. There also appear to be two bullet holes in the front window.

Tallahassee Police say the robber (or robbers) shot 30 year old Jason West in both legs. At last word he was hospitalized in good condition.

"It was a couple of gunshots and I heard them. They were very loud and I feel like when people is out doing their dirt, I don't think they should bring it to a neighborhood where there is kids," a neighbor said.

Witnesses say West ran across the street to get help. A neighbor called 911 and helped to apply pressure to West's gunshot wounds until paramedics arrived.

Tallahassee Police have not yet made an arrest or divulged a motive.

Was it a real well to do neighborhood? Did this guy have a lot of money or something? What do you think made them go to that particular house? Do you think they knew he was in there? If they did why would they go in there if they knew he was in there?

Back in the day a couple well placed shot's to the kneecap's were a good way of extracting information from someone, wonder what is was that the shooter was curious to know.

That's not what the neighbor said. Go back and read it again and watch the video. Maybe your comprehension will improve.

Well what was acually stated was the children claimed to heard them. So since everyone on here thats negative was present when this happen why did you not lend a hand. All of you have you opinions ,but if this were to happen in your neighborhood. And a neighbor ran to your house bloody, all of you would be to scared to intervene, you would be the main ones to close the door on that person. Well I did not so don't insult me by claiming things that are not true. Also if you are not here to make comment that matter shut up and hide behind your keyboard.

New York Moves to Deploy Body Scanners on Street in Search for Guns: wish they'd do that in Leon County, like in the Mall and instead of red light cameras use them to shine in cars. Maybe all those droopy drawers wouldn't droop so bad without a gun in them.

FSU4LIFE--we don't need taxpayers to pay for more police. We need the ones we have to do their job.

Hey Ann, given that the United States Supreme Court has ruled that the police have no duty to protect individuals, what exactly do you perceive that the police should have done that they did not in this case?

Anne, you could have prevented this by sitting on his lap.

I'd bet money he knows who did it. Two shots in the legs sound like punishment shots to me, not meant to kill, but to hurt. He knows who he owes money or whatever to. No need for public alarm on this one.

I don't believe this story really happened, as I have been told numerous times by people on this website, that I was perfectly safe in my own home, self defense was not a right in the home, only an idiot would need to be armed while at home, etc, etc. ad infinitum.
