Thomasville, GA - The Thomasville High School Band's Booster Treasurer has been charged with felony theft by taking.
Thomasville Police say 43-year old James Deryl Ouzts was arrested Thursday after a month long investigation revealed he had stolen more than $40,000 from the band's funds.
Ouzts, who took the treasurer position back in 2011, was also the Director of Student Life at Thomas University.
Since Ouzts was arrested, Thomas University has released an official statement saying, "“We cannot discuss internal personnel matters. Mr. Ouzts is no longer at Thomas University.”
Ouzts was taken to Thomas County Jail but has since been released on $7500 bond.
