[UPDATE] 3/21 6:55 p.m.

A string of robberies plagued Florida A&M University Friday and again on Sunday.

Campus and Tallahassee Police officers are investigating the incidents but still have not made any arrests.

Students and faculty at FAMU are trying to figure out how their campus turned into a crime scene so quickly.

Just after 5 p.m. on Friday in the parking lot of Truth Hall at FAMU.

Police say a man robbed a woman and fled the scene.

Chief of police Calvin Ross says they suspect a Latin male in his 20's was involved in that armed robbery.

Another robbery took place near campus Sunday on Railroad Avenue, while the other involved a violent act towards a student.

It happened on campus as the student was walking home in the early morning hours on Sunday.

Calvin Ross says, "He observed a four door light gray early model sedan that passed by him rather slowly, but then as he turned to walk North from Wanish Way to Orange Avenue. A male described by him as a black male walked up behind him and put a gun to the back of his head, and demanded any cash he may have had in his possession."

But thanks to the campuses fast response to emergencies, students were quickly notified of the threat at their school.

Adam Badger says, "I get the alerts sent to my phone , and they usually come within 5 minutes after the event has occurred."

Chief Ross advises students and faculty to be extra vigilant and not let their guard down.

Ross Says, "Don't walk alone. If you got to be out, don't carry large amounts of cash. Don't flash jewelry, don't flash money, don't do something that would make yourself more of a target."

Why not just make it illegal to have a gun on campus?Better yet,why not just make it illegal to rob someone? That would solve everything.

Take a chill pill Rick. Student's packing heat is not the solution to fighting crime on campus. You might recognize that if you had ever set foot on one.

And now in the wake that the Anti Gunners had the new gun law changed that would have allowed you to protect yourself into a place where you have the right to be victimized. So that the student at yet another Collage Campus are unable to defend themselves. How stupid can some sheeple be. As stated by one student " we are well informed by via text message with in 5, yes FIVE MINUTES AFTER the INCIDENT HAPPENED. WHAT ABOUT OUR CHILDREN DURING THE INCIDENT WHAT HAPPENES THEN????? NOTHING EXCEPT GET ROBBED,RAPED, MURDERED. ALSO STATED BY SCHOOL! DON'T CARRY LARGE SUMS OF MONEY, DON'T WALK ALONE, DON'T FLASH JEWELRY DON'T FEEL SAFE IN AMERICA BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS HERE WHEN YOU ARE ON SCHOOL PROPERTY AND CAN AND WILL BE MUGGED ANY TIME A CRIMINAL FEELS THE NEED.BECAUSE WE ARE THE TYRANNIC GOVERNMENT AND WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO PROTECT YOURSELF AND OR YOUR PROPERTY. THE IS WHAT WE WANT TO TEACH YOU IN OUR AMERICAN SCHOOLS, IS THAT YOU REALLY HAVE NO CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS BECAUSE WE KNOW BEST.

@ Kool: Go drink some of dat grape drank. If I'm not mistaken an accidental shooting is different than an armed robbery. @ Disbelief: I'm in disbelief on how stupid you are! Show us the ratio of FSU students on FSU campus to reported crimes, and FAMU students on FAMU campus to reported crimes. I try to stay away from both campuses mainly FAMU, when I do go through either campus I see way more criminal activity on FAMU's campus than FSU's.

And FSU is a "haven" for criminals too, right along with pedophiles and rapists. So before you comment on FAMU'S campus, think about FSU too. They shoot people by "accident" (yea right) over there.

@kool and that shooting was an accident. these armed robberies must be too, right?
  • by Andrew Location: Orygun on Mar 21, 2011 at 09:05 AM
But didn't the criminals know it was a gun free zone? How could they have possible taken them on campus?

There was a law on the books that no guns were allowed in state forests. Some nut one day decided he wanted to see what it was like to kill some one. when interviewed he told detectives he chose Ocala forest because he new that people there were un-armed because of the law. He shot a man and his girl friend. Some months later The law was changed.. Re:Frat house shooting. The law wouldn't cover that. It was an AK47 Not a concealed hand gun...You must be 21 and clear a background check to get a CCW.
